Battery life

Regarding the battery, The range of an e-bike is influenced by various factors such as environment, terrain, rider weight, and riding conditions. Especially in winter, battery life is significantly reduced. The maximum range is typically achieved when riding at a steady speed in the lowest gear (usually in eco mode), using both electric and pedal assist. This setup minimizes energy consumption, allowing for the best possible distance on a single charge.

If still encounter the issue, Could you please send us a video to show the test data of the battery output voltage when using the 200V DC voltage multimeter?

-battery: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g2ZH3OAevbE

-The normal voltage range for a 48V battery is 40-54.6V.

Additionally, to improve your e-bike's range:

  1. Use lower assist levels: This can help conserve battery power for longer rides.
  2. Maintain proper tire pressure: Well-inflated tires reduce rolling resistance.
  3. Avoid excessive weight: Carrying less can help improve efficiency.
  4. Plan your routes: Opt for flatter terrain when possible, as hills can drain the battery faster.
3-pin charger

The technician reported that this type of charger has its own built-in protection device, so the voltage cannot be measured. the red light flashing, which indicates that the charger has triggered its protection mechanisms (output short-circuit protection/reverse polarity protection/output over-voltage protection/over-temperature protection).

The Ultra battery still has power after the key is removed.

This is normal behavior; most e-bikes feature a delayed power-off design to allow you time to organize your belongings or check data after removing the key. Typically, the power will shut off automatically within 30 seconds to 2 minutes.

Regarding the AC power switch of the Ultra battery
  1. The power supply of the vehicle is not affected by the AC power switch. Pressing this switch or not has no effect on the power supply.
  2. The AC power switch only needs to be turned on when powering 110V electrical appliances.
Ultra battery lock tongue failed to lock
  1. The battery is not fully seated to the bottom of the battery compartment, preventing the locking latch from engaging smoothly.
  2. If the battery is properly installed but still fails to lock, please lift the battery slightly to loosen it within the guide rails of the battery compartment.
The remaining battery power displayed on the dashboard is inaccurate
  1. The abnormal instrument data may be caused by incorrect user adjustments to the instrument parameters. Please reset the instrument.
  2. It's less likely due to an uncalibrated voltage or a damaged voltage detection circuit. In this case, the instrument needs to be replaced.

Lithium battery capacity degradation

lithium battery capacity attenuation is a normal physical phenomenon. Just like the battery life of a mobile phone will decrease after long-term use, the core reason is that the lithium ions inside the battery will gradually lose activity and wear out during the charge-discharge cycle, which leads to the reduction of storable power. This is a common feature of all lithium batteries (including those used in electric bikes, mobile phones, laptops and other devices), and it is not a product quality problem. The specific attenuation speed will be affected by factors such as usage habits, ambient temperature and charging methods.

Connect the front and rear motor cables by plugging them together

Please fold the bike frame, connect the rear wheel motor cable connector to the rear controller connector, and turn on the power. Set the gear level to 1 or higher, then twist the throttle to check if the front wheel rotates normally. If it rotates normally, this indicates that the rear controller is functioning correctly but the motor core of the rear wheel is faulty . If front wheel also fails to rotate, this indicates that the rear controller needs to be replaced.

Driving-related issues Front wheel deflection

Headset check: Hold the front brake and gently rock the bike forward and back. Do you feel a clunk or movement between the handlebars and the frame?

Fork alignment: Stand in front of the bike and look down to see if the front wheel aligns straight with the frame. Also, from the back, check if both wheels are in a straight line.

Steerer tube check: If possible, loosen the stem and raise the fork slightly to visually inspect the steerer tube for any bending.

If the headset is loose, it might be adjustable. If the fork leg or steerer tube is bent, it may need replacement.

Climbing issues Insufficient power for climbing
  1. Check the controller :

Is this issue of insufficient power only occurring when climbing ? Does the same power issue occur when riding on flat terrain? If this only happens when climbing, it indicates that the controller's high current protection is automatically triggered, reducing power output. If this issue also occurs on flat surfaces, please check the controller wiring for burnt-out areas; in this case, the controller may need to be replaced.

Our motors are suitable for short climbs, but not for long climbs. This is because they have high current protection and low battery voltage protection. If the controller temperature is too high or the battery voltage is too low, the power will intelligently cut off. If the display lights up normally and no error codes appear, and the bike can be ridden normally again after a while, it indicates that the motor or controller temperature was too high, triggering the automatic protection. You can test it on a flat surface to see if it still cuts off the power. If it still cuts off the power on a flat surface, the controller needs to be replaced.

  1. Check the voltage of the battery :

If you have a mulmeter, Please use its DC voltage 200V gear to test the battery output voltage. (Swtich on batter power button firstly)

Tire problems Rear wheel locked / Wheel cannot roll backward

Symptom: the rear wheel rolls forward smoothly but locks up when rolling backward. This is usually caused by a stuck hydraulic disc brake caliper (piston not retracting fully) or residual pressure in the brake line — the most common hydraulic brake issue for ebikes.!!!

Safety First (Before Any Repairs):

  • Turn off the ebike power and prop the rear wheel off the ground (use a bike stand or secure the frame safely);
  • Do NOT get any brake oil, lubricant, or grease on the brake rotor or brake pads — this will cause brake failure and require replacement parts;
  • Use clean rags and isopropyl alcohol (brake cleaner) for wiping components

Step 1: Quick Brake Lever Adjustment (Simplest Fix)

  1. Locate the small hex adjuster screw on your brake lever (near the handlebar pivot).
  2. Turn the screw counterclockwise 1–2 full turns to release excess lever pressure and create more piston clearance.
  3. Squeeze and release the lever fully 3–5 times, then test rolling the rear wheel backward.
  4. If the wheel moves freely, the issue was over-tightened lever adjustment.

Step 2: Check for Stuck Caliper Pistons (Most Common Cause)

  1. Loosen the caliper mounting bolts (no need to disconnect the hydraulic hose) and wipe away dust, dirt, and brake dust from the caliper body.
  2. Insert a thin plastic shim (or old business card) between the brake pad and rotor to prevent pinching.
  3. Gently press both caliper pistons inward with your fingers (or a soft plastic tool) — pistons should retract smoothly and evenly.
  4. If a piston is stuck/unable to retract: Clean the piston surface with isopropyl alcohol, then lightly lube the piston seal with brake-specific silicone grease (do NOT over-apply).
  5. Re-align the caliper, tighten mounting bolts, remove the shim, and test backward wheel movement.

Step 3: Inspect Hydraulic Hose & Leaks

  1. Check the entire brake hose for kinks, crimps, or pinching (a bent hose traps pressure and prevents piston retraction).
  2. Inspect hose fittings and the lever reservoir for small leaks — seepage will disrupt hydraulic pressure.
  3. Straighten minor kinks gently; replace severely damaged hoses immediately.

Step 4: Bleed the Brake System (Advanced Fix)

If air is trapped in the hydraulic line, it causes uneven pressure and stuck pistons:

  • Use the correct brake fluid for your model (DOT 3/4 or mineral oil — NEVER mix the two).
  • Bleed air from the caliper bleed valve while squeezing the lever, top off the reservoir to the marked level.
  • If you're unfamiliar with brake bleeding, we recommend taking the ebike to a certified bike repair shop to avoid damage. (Reimbursement arrangements must be negotiated with us in advance.)

If the Issue Persists

If troubleshooting doesn't resolve the lock-up, the problem may be worn piston seals, damaged caliper components, or a faulty freewheel (rare for hydraulic brake issues). Please share your ebike order number and brake system details (video) for further support.

Difficulty in front wheel steering
  1. please refer to the video attached to adjust the front fork shock absorption
  2. Please check if the front fork/front wheel is installed incorrectly, such as if the quick-release rod is not properly installed. Please reinstall it or adjust the stem.
  3. Please check if the front fork is deformed. If so, please provide relevant pictures/videos
Wheel diameter

It's normal to set the wheel diameter larger than the actual value. When the bike speed reaches the legal limit (e.g., 25 km/h), the motor must stop providing assistance. The system relies on wheel diameter data to calculate this cutoff point. If the set wheel diameter is smaller than the actual value, the system will mistakenly assume you are riding faster than you actually are, causing the motor to stop providing assistance prematurely; conversely, if the wheel diameter is set larger than the actual value, the motor's assistance cutoff speed will be delayed, allowing the motor to provide assistance for a longer period.

please refer to the steps to set the wheel diameter.

Abnormal noise from the rear wheel
  1. Check whether the ring bearing inside the motor is loose or damaged.
  2. Fold the ebike, connect the front controller to the rear wheel motor cable, and twist the throttle to see if there is any abnormal noise when the rear wheel rotates.
Flywheel disengagement / Loose flywheel

Tutorial video

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1PC7YYI-n0tG5TAyOTt3JEI234d61aYkS/view?usp=drive_link

Cause:

The freewheel has come loose or detached and needs to be retightened.

Please follow the instructions in the accompanying video; the steps are as follows:

  1. Begin by removing the chain.
  2. Shift the gear selector to the 7th gear position.
  3. Press the rear derailleur downward. Then, lift the chain clear of the freewheel (ensure the freewheel does not remain in contact with the chain).
  4. Align the freewheel's threads with the hub and slowly rotate it to tighten. (Once the threads are properly aligned, it should screw on very easily.)
  5. Once secured, reinstall the chain, placing it onto the smallest cog (the outermost ring) of the freewheel
  6. Squeeze both the left and right brake levers firmly. Then, stand on the pedals and apply strong downward pressure to fully tighten the freewheel. (Three firm pedal stomps should be sufficient.)

The process is now complete.

Seat post problems Seat post cannot be securely fastened / Seat post slips down
  1. Please check whether the white bushing inside the seatpost has slipped down to the bottom of the tube. If so, simply re-secure it firmly using strong adhesive.
  2. Please try rotating the seatpost clamp to tighten the seatpost.
The seat post cannot be pushed down.

Please try loosening the seatpost clamp, then slowly insert the seat into the seatpost by rotating it left and right. If this still doesn't work, please use a file to smooth the inside of the seatpost. This phenomenon is within the reasonable production tolerance. If the above two methods still cannot solve the problem, please send a video showing the problem;

Fault Code Fault Name Troubleshooting Steps Remark
E04 Throttle Error

When you press and release the throttle, itshould return to the original position. Removeany obstructions. Check the throttle and throttlecable for damage, such as a cut or frayed cable.

E08 Throttle Error

Code 8 represents a throttle issue. Please check if the throttle is properly positioned and verify the throttle connection. If the fault code persists after checking, the throttle need to be replaced.

E21 Overcurrent Error Main controller current abnormality

The E21 error code indicates a controller issue. If the display is currently showing E21, please disconnect the cable that connects the front and rear controllers (as shown in the image below).

If the E21 error remains after disconnecting, the issue is with the rear controller;
If the error disappears, the issue is with the front controller.

You can first try simple reset operations to fix the issue quickly. Details are as follows:

一. Core Definition of E21 Fault

The operating current of the motor exceeds the safe threshold set by the controller. To prevent overheating and burning of key components such as the motor, wiring, and battery, the controller will automatically cut off the power output and display this fault code.

二. Common Causes of E21 Fault

  1. Vehicle Overload & Instant Excessive Current: Long-time riding with full assist on slopes, overloading with heavy goods or extra passengers, sudden rapid acceleration, and continuous high-intensity riding will force the motor to run under high current continuously, activating the over-current protection directly.
  2. Abnormal Wiring Connection: Loose, oxidized, blackened, or damaged main battery plug, three-phase motor wires (yellow/green/blue thick cables) and hall sensor wires between the controller and motor, causing abnormal current transmission and triggering the fault code.
  3. Mechanical Jamming & Brake Failure: Brake lever not fully reset, brake pad dragging, rear motor bearing jamming, or foreign objects stuck in the motor gear, leading to motor stall and sharp surge of instant current.
  4. Key Component Hardware Failure: Short circuit or open circuit in the motor winding, damaged hall sensor, faulty internal parts of the controller, or abnormal battery protection board, resulting in disordered current control.
  5. Improper Modification: Replacement of high-power motor or large-capacity battery without matching the original controller parameters, exceeding the factory current bearing range and causing over-current fault.

三. Step-by-Step Troubleshooting (From Simple to Professional)

  1. Power Off & Reset to Eliminate Temporary Overload Protection: Stop riding immediately, turn off the power, unplug the battery and let the vehicle stand for 3-5 minutes to fully cool the controller and motor. Reconnect the battery and power on the e-bike for testing. If the fault code disappears, it is usually triggered by temporary overload; avoid overloading and high-intensity riding later.
  2. Check & Secure Wiring Plugs: After cutting off the power, check all plugs including the main battery plug, motor phase wires and hall sensor wires one by one, re-plug and fasten them. If the plugs are oxidized or blackened, clean them with a dry cloth or alcohol pad, and wrap damaged wires with insulating tape to avoid short circuit.
  3. Check Mechanical & Brake Conditions: Push the rear wheel manually to check for jamming or abnormal noise, make sure the brake lever is fully reset and the brake pads are not dragging, and remove all foreign objects around the motor to eliminate mechanical stall.

Important Notes

  • Do not force the throttle to ride when the fault code is displayed, as continuous abnormal current will damage core components.
  • Avoid long-time full-assist slope riding and overloading in daily use; accelerate gently to reduce instant high-current impact.

If the above methods fail to restore normal operation, the controller needs to be replaced.

E24/E34/E35 Motor Phase Error

To diagnose the issue efficiently, please follow these steps and share a short video (under 30 seconds) showing:

Motor fault: The instrument can power on but the motor does not start.

Power Check: Turn the key to "ON" – does the display light up normally?

Throttle Test: Set to gear 5, then twist the throttle – does the motor vibrate/hum but not spin?

Connection Check: Inspect the motor waterproof cable and controller terminals (photos of any loose wires or damage).

Walk Boost Mode Test: Long press [-] button, activate walk boost mode – does the motor engage briefly when pressed?

Front Wheel Drive Mode Test: Switch to front wheel drive mode, set to at least 1 gear PAS level, twist the throttle, check whether the front wheel can be driven normally.

If no abnormalities are found after the above inspection steps, you can refer to the attached video to connect the rear controller interface to the front wheel motor interface and test if the front wheels turn. If the front wheels do not turn, please purchase and replace the front wheel motor.

E24 Rear wheel does not rotate

  1. First, disconnect the connecting cable located between the two controllers.
  2. Disconnect the connecting cable between the front wheel motor and the front wheel controller.
  3. At this point, the display panel indicates "Rear-Wheel Drive Mode." Twist the throttle to check if any error codes appear. If an error code is displayed, the rear motor is faulty; if no error code appears, the rear motor does not need to be replaced.
  4. Next, connect the rear controller's connecting cable (which typically controls the rear wheel) to the front motor's input port. The display panel should still indicate "Rear-Wheel Drive Mode." Twist the throttle again to check for error codes. If an error code is displayed, the front motor is faulty; if no error code appears, the front motor does not need to be replaced.
E25/E101 Brake Error

E25 Error Code – Brake Sensor Malfunction

E25 is the error code for an e-bike brake sensor (brake power cut-off switch) malfunction. Fundamentally, the controller detects an abnormal brake signal—often misinterpreting it as "the brake lever being constantly depressed"—which results in the motor/pedal assist being cut off, rendering the bike unrideable.

I. Meaning of the Fault

  1. Source of Fault: The power cut-off sensor built into the left or right brake lever.
  2. Symptoms: The display shows E25; the motor/pedal assist fails; the brake lever does not spring back smoothly; or the wiring is loose/has suffered water ingress.
  3. Principle: The sensor sends a signal to the controller indicating that "the brake has been applied," triggering a forced power cut-off safety mechanism for the motor.

II. Troubleshooting

  1. Unplug the left and right brake sensor connectors one after another, and check which side’s unplugging makes the error code disappear. If the error code disappears, it indicates that the brake lever wire on this side needs adjustment.
  2. First, reconnect the brake lever wire connector of the trouble-free side. Then loosen the screw of the brake lever wire on the faulty side, pull the brake lever wire out a little, and reconnect the connector to check if the error code disappears. If the error code still exists, pull the brake lever wire out a little more.

III. If the Above Steps Are Ineffective: Parts Requiring Replacement

  1. Priority Replacement: The brake lever assembly on the faulty side.
E30/E26 Communication Error

E30 Error Code – Communication Failure

The E30 error code typically indicates a communication failure within the bike's electrical system. There is often a poor connection or a burnt-out section of the wiring. Please check all wiring connections, the brake lever wiring for looseness, and the controller wiring for any burnt-out wires.

Troubleshooting Steps:

  1. Check Wiring Connections: Inspect all waterproof wire connectors on the bike. Replug each connection to ensure proper contact.
  2. Verify Motor Connection: Locate the motor connector (usually near the rear wheel). Disconnect and reconnect it firmly, then check if the error persists.
  3. Test Brake Sensors: Disconnect the left brake sensor and check if the error persists. Repeat with the right brake sensor. If the error disappears, the faulty brake sensor may need replacement.
  4. Check Throttle & Walk-Assist Mode: Unplug the throttle connector. Then press and hold the Down button on the display to test walk-assist mode. If the motor runs in walk mode but not with the throttle, the throttle may be faulty.
  5. Inspect Pedal Assist Sensor (PAS) & Other Components: Disconnect the PAS sensor and check if the error clears. Additionally, inspect the headlight and horn connections, as faulty wiring in these areas can trigger the E30 error.

If the error persists after completing these steps, please let us know, and we will provide further guidance.

Please check if this can offer you help. Thanks in advance for your understanding.

Uphill Ride Automatic Shutdown

Have you ever been on a long uphill bike ride? There are two situations for automatic shutdown when climbing a slope:

1. If the bike stops: Only the motor drive is cut off, and the display can light up normally. This occurs because the controller detects continuous climbing and triggers high current protection.

2. If the display is directly shut down and cannot light up anymore: The battery load is too large and the slope is climbed for a long time. The battery temperature or low voltage protection will be triggered and the output will be cut off. In this case, the controller needs to be replaced. Please avoid climbing for a long time.

Troubleshooting Steps:

  1. First, test the voltage at the battery discharge port to see if there is any voltage.
  2. If the battery voltage is normal, remove the battery and press and hold the meter's M button/power button for five seconds. Then, set the multimeter to beep mode and test the two terminals of the controller.
    • If there is a beep, replace the controller.
    • If not, replace the meter.
